Edinburgh University Padel Club
Scotland's first university padel club — competitive squads, social vibes, and the cheapest court rates in Edinburgh. All abilities welcome!
About
If you're walking down Princes Street and spot a group of students heading towards Edinburgh Park with rackets, you've probably stumbled upon the UoE Padel Club — the fastest-growing sports club on campus. Founded in March 2024, this lot have already built a vibrant community with competitive squads (three men's teams, two ladies') and super laid-back recreational sessions at Craigmillar Park that'll set you back just £2. The competitive training happens at Game4Padel's covered courts, a breezy 20-minute tram ride away, while the recreational vibe is all about fun knockarounds open to every ability. Keep an eye on their Instagram for trial dates and session times — and if you're a beginner, the ladies' teams are especially welcoming, with training that feels more like a social hit than a try-out.

Full Description
The Edinburgh University Padel Club (UoE Padel Club) is an EUSU (Edinburgh University Sports Union) sport club and student society based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was founded in March 2024 and is Scotland's pioneering padel club, offering the sport to students throughout the city. The club aims to promote affordable and inclusive padel for all students internally, while externally striving to lead the national competitive student padel scene. The club is open to all abilities and offers both recreational and competitive padel. It participates in the National Universities Padel League (NUPL) and almost won in its first year. The club runs multiple domestic and international tours and trips, having visited Newcastle and Malaga, Spain. Competitive setup: The club hosts three men's competitive squads (1st, 2nd, 3rd teams) and two ladies' competitive squads (1st and 2nd teams). Sessions focus on enjoyment and fun, with varying standards across teams. The ladies' teams offer an extremely inclusive, no-pressure environment where training often feels like a fun knockaround. Individuals in Men's 1st/2nd & Ladies 1st/2nd may be selected to represent Edinburgh at NUPL fixtures, playing other northern universities, with potential Finals Day in London. Trials are held for men's squads (no trials for ladies; anyone is welcome), and there is movement throughout the season. Training and competitive padel take place at Game4Padel Edinburgh Park, which has covered courts about a 20-minute tram journey from Princes Street. Recreational setup: The club hosts extremely fun and laidback weekly sessions at Craigmillar Park Tennis & Padel Club. These sessions are very affordable (around £2 per session, described as the cheapest rates in Edinburgh and nine times cheaper than the average London court). They are open to anyone, men and women of all abilities, and beginners are especially welcome. Membership fees: Full Year Membership is £60.00; Semester 2 Student Membership is £40.00. Online booking is available via Fixr (members only). The club has a website on EUSU and a Linktree with links to Instagram, email, booking, and a WhatsApp group. The official Instagram is @uoepadel, email is padel@ed.ac.uk. The club also has a presence on The Padel Directory, where it is listed as Edinburgh University Padel Society. The club has a refund policy whereby refunds can only be requested from the club in cash or cheque at the club's discretion; the Sports Union Membership and transaction fee are non-refundable. Financial assistance via the University's Participation Grant and other hardship funds is available. Venues: Game4Padel Edinburgh Park (1, New Park Square, Edinburgh Park, Edinburgh) and Craigmillar Park Tennis & Padel Club (Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, Lady Rd, Edinburgh). The club also has a Linktree with Google Maps links to both venues. Additional details from the assembled description: The club is one of the EUSU fastest growing Sport Clubs, entering its second official year in 2025/26. It has a 'Register Your Interest' option on the EUSU site. The club's social media includes Instagram and WhatsApp. The Padel Directory page lists multiple sponsors (e.g., Rally Fuel, Finset, Tenzing, Estrella Galicia, etc.) as partners of the directory, not directly of the club.
