About

If you're walking down Manse Road in Corstorphine and spot the unassuming frontage of The Manse Club, you've found one of Edinburgh's best-kept snooker secrets. Step inside and you're instantly transported – this is a proper old-school billiard hall, purpose-built in 1939 and still humming with the same vintage charm. With nine full-size snooker tables under bright lights, a welcoming lounge bar, and a large beer garden for when you need a breather, it's the kind of place where the felt is always well-kept and the banter flows as freely as the beer. Insider tip: it's cash only, so hit the ATM beforehand, and definitely call ahead to book a table – it gets busy, especially on league nights when the local teams are going for silverware. The staff, especially Davie behind the bar, make everyone feel at home, whether you're a seasoned player or just up for a few frames with mates.

Full Description

The Manse Club is a private members Billiard and Snooker club located at 62-68 Manse Rd, Corstorphine, Edinburgh EH12 7SS, United Kingdom. The phone number is +441313341729 and the website is http://www.themanseclub.co.uk/. The building was purpose-built as a Billiard Hall in 1939 by Miller Construction, commissioned by the then owners W & W Maclauchlan (affectionately known as 'Old Willie'). It was originally known as The Snooker Hall, with clientele also calling it 'The Gas' or 'The Smoke'. In 1985, two long-standing clients, Brian McKeown and Willie Prior, purchased the premises upon Old Willie's impending retirement. Within the first three years of ownership, a new toilet block was added and an extension built to increase the number of tables to 11 (currently reduced to 9 full-size tables). The next major change came in 1995 when the premises closed for two months to install a bar and lounge. Today, The Manse Club offers 9 full-size snooker tables, a lounge bar, a large beer garden, and an 8ft HD projector screen for showing TV sports. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9:30am–11:00pm and Sunday 10:30am–6:00pm (though some sources list earlier closing at 11pm and Yell lists 11:00–23:00; the club's own website historically stated Mon–Sat 9.30am–1.00am, Sun 10.30am–1.00am). The club is wheelchair accessible with an accessible entrance and restroom, and also has a gender-neutral restroom. WiFi is available. The bar serves beer, wine, and hard liquor, with a great beer selection. The club accepts reservations, is good for groups, and has a casual, adult-focused, old-school atmosphere. Payment is cash only. The club is home to snooker and billiard teams that play in local Edinburgh leagues and have a long history of winning silverware. Staff are noted to be friendly, particularly the bar man Davie. Facilities include a lounge bar, large beer garden, and the HD projector. The club has a rating of 4.6 from 139 user ratings on Google and is categorized as a sports complex, billiard club, pool hall, snooker club, sports bar, and private members club. It is located in a convenient area with on-street parking that can be tricky. Non-members can pay a daily membership fee to use the facilities. The Manse Club also has multiple EV charging points (Type 2 sockets, 7kW each) – though these may be part of a separate POD Point installation. The club's website was built using Yola and includes a Twitter widget. The ChalkySticks listing describes it as having well-kept tables, spare cues, and a handy bar, recommending calling ahead as it can get busy.
