Meadows Place's gated tennis & pickleball haven — grab a $75 resident card and hit the courts!

About

If you're driving down Dorrance Lane in Meadows Place, keep an eye out for the gated tennis courts tucked inside Jim McDonald Park. This isn't your typical public park setup — you'll need an access card (snag one at City Hall for $75 a year if you're a resident, $250 if not) to get through the gate. Inside, you'll find well-maintained hard courts with lights for evening play, plus two permanent pickleball courts that have their own dedicated following. The real gem? Sharon Meyer, an IPTPA Level II certified instructor, runs small-group pickleball lessons here — she supplies the paddles from Diadem, Joola, and Engage, so just show up ready to learn. Just remember the 60-minute limit and the no-paid-instruction-without-permission rule, and you're set for a great session.

Full Description

Meadows Tennis Park is a sports facility located at 12005 Dorrance Lane within Jim McDonald Park, in the city of Meadows Place, United States. The park features tennis courts with an access card system that must be purchased at City Hall (Monday–Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm). A registration card must be completed, and a Driver's License and/or Meadows Place water bill is required to verify residency for resident rates. Members are limited to one access card, which is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Resident access cards cost $75 for the entire year; non-resident cards cost $250 for the entire year. Tennis players must have their access card with them while on the courts. A maximum of three guests are allowed per card, and all guests must be accompanied by a card holder. The gate must not be propped open, and access must not be given to anyone without an access card who is not a guest. Posted court rules and rules on the registration card must be followed at all times. No paid instruction is allowed without City of Meadows Place permission. Parks & Recreation programs have priority to all courts. Play is limited to 60 minutes. Rules are enforced, and violators are subject to forfeiture of their privileges for use of City facilities. The tennis courts also have two permanent pickleball courts, and the same rules apply to them. Pickleball official rules are referenced from USA Pickleball. Pickleball lessons are available and taught by Sharon Meyer, who is IPTPA Level II Certified. Most classes are taught as small group lessons of 4 players, but private and semi-private lessons are also available. The Intro to Pickleball lesson is 90 minutes long and everything is supplied (including Diadem, Joola, and Engage paddle demos for use during classes). Lessons are for beginner to intermediate players aged 8 and up. For more information, visit https://www.coachshmeyerpickleball.com/. For suspicious activity, contact the Police at 281-983-2900.
